About this Walk

What is your relationship with the land?  What does it look like?  The Colouring it Forward Reconciliation Society (CIFRS) asked six Indigenous artists to answer these questions through words and their art.  Join us for an Art Walk at the Rotary Park mini-galleries in Crescent Heights (North entrance off of 7th Ave NE by Centre St).  We will start with an Elder blessing by Cheryle Chagnon, tour the six mini-galleries, and end with live music by Sings Many Songs Women and some refreshments.  You will have an opportunity to meet the artists as they will talk about their art and their connection to the land.

This exhibition will be on until June 29th and features the work of: Autumn Whiteway (@ojicreations), Jeanien Cooper Bell (@Jb3ll3), Tory Manywounds )@torymarts), Gordon Wesley (@gordonwesley.nighorn), Ramsay Kunkel (@ramseykunkel) and Paityn Savoie (waposhypii).

Please note that this is a short walk through Rotary Park, although there will be a lot of standing.  This is also an off-leash dog park, so you are welcome to bring your dog.  All ages are welcome!

We thank the Crescent Heights Mini-Galleries for hosting this exhibition and the Calgary Arts Development Authority (CADA) and The City of Calgary for supporting this exhibit and artists.

CIFRS’s vision is to promote ReconciliACTION!, Empowerment, Awareness & Leadership – let’s get REAL.  We work in collaboration with other community organizations to deliver art-based workshops and events that provide education through Indigenous ways of knowing and to promote healing and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.  More info at cifrs.ca
