About this Walk
One of the gems of Ward 11 is the Glenmore Reservoir and the Water Treatment Plants. We can often take for granted the delivery of clean water and how much work goes into managing the water that serves Calgarians and then flows downstream to residents across southern Alberta.Join councillor Kourtney Penner and the City’s Water Services team for an information packed walk at the Glenmore Dam and Water Services Building. Learn about the history of the dam, dam upgrades, and current operational challenges managing for both flooding and drought. We will explore the public art piece ‘Duration’ and then take a tour of the historic Glenmore Water Treatment Plant. Learn about new technologies being used by Water Services while enjoying the historic elements of the buildings along with the great views of the reservoir and downtown.
Please note: all participants will be required to sign a waiver in order to visit the inside of the water treatment plant.
